FiberLight Invests $20 Million in Intelligent Infrastructure to 支持 Autonomous Systems

Saturday, March 23, 2024

Atlanta, GA / Accesswire / February 7, 2024 / FiberLight, LLC, a fiber infrastructure provider with more than 20 years of experience designing, 建筑, 和 operating mission-critical, high-b和width networks, today announced a $20 million investment for a 100-mile fiber optic infrastructure project along State Highway (SH) 130, near Austin, 德州. The investment, which occurs in collaboration with the Autonomy Institute, will create the region’s first intelligent infrastructure economic zone.

Delivering much-needed b和width to the fast-growing areas adjacent to SH 130 will transform it into a fully autonomous corridor. As part of the project, FiberLight is providing high-speed 10 和 100GB connectivity to the Public Infrastructure 网络 Nodes (PINNs) across approximately 92 miles of SH 130 to support the development, installation, 和 software needed to manage autonomous systems.

As a 501c3 nonprofit organization, the Autonomy Institute comprises a public-private partnership with 成员 including organizations like Hewlett Packard Enterprise, 英伟达, 超微型计算机, 雷神公司, 思科, Terrascale, Syndeo Cities, Arnouse Digital Devices, Compass Datacenters, 爱立信, 有弹性的, Truweather Solutions, 和 Above Robotics. This collective expertise in software, 硬件, 和 advanced systems 和 infrastructure contributes to a shared mission to accelerate a “path to commerce 和 productivity” for intelligent 和 autonomous systems.

“FiberLight is very excited to be a member of the Autonomy Institute 和 involved in the deployment of this autonomous systems project,” explained Bill Major, CEO of FiberLight. “To realize the goal for safe 和 reliable use of automated vehicles, fiber optic placement – delivered by PINNS – is critical. For this project, our fiber infrastructure will deliver 10 和 100GB connectivity of capacity or more to each of the more than 240 PINNs, situated every 2,000英尺, across State Highway 130, 和 provide a resilient solution that will drive economic expansion 和 job growth for the region.”

“SH130 is the modern-day equivalent of Route 66, supporting dozens of communities, 和 enabling 21st-century solutions,” said Jeffrey DeCoux, Chairman 和 Autonomy Fellow at the Autonomy Institute. “Intelligent Infrastructure touches the day-to-day life of each of our citizens 和 is crucial to competitiveness 和 prosperity. FiberLight has helped deploy critical digital infrastructure statewide, 和 their expertise will build a stronger 和 more connected 德州.”

The SH 130 project advances the concept of connected smart cities, which is also being pursued by notable projects in Michigan, 科罗拉多州, North Carolina, New York City, 和意大利. When complete, the FiberLight network will support autonomous mobility districts, public safety, 和 response, as well as distributed work centers. The advanced spatial computing capabilities from the endeavor will support autonomous cars, 卡车, 和 drones as well as advanced AR/VR 和 other edge computing applications.

About the Autonomy Institute

The Autonomy Institute (501c3) is accelerating the “Path to Commerce” for Intelligent Infrastructure 和 autonomous systems. This includes Digital Infrastructure, Autonomy, 和 AI at the edge. It is a government, 行业, 学术界, 和 public alliance to create the policies, 市场, 工作, 和 community benefits of autonomy, starting with the Intelligent Infrastructure 和 autonomous systems equivalent to the Eisenhower Interstate Highways. The Autonomy Institute collaborates with large infrastructure investors 和 Infrastructure Banks on the creation of $100+ million Intelligent Infrastructure Economic Zones.
